OK, a few days have passed since the last sessions. There have been a few minor skirmishes, but nothing very difficult. Keika, during the course of this time Katsu and the people who worked with him were able to make the upgrades to Kurasu, so you have him back. (Yay! And I'm mostly sane again.) (Sweet, lemmie update the sheet and I'll mail it to you.) Apparently Keika was able to supply some excellent schemating and katsu had the right parts. (And of course, Kiku could testify to katsu having the right parts if she were one to kiss and tell) (Rats, beat me to the joke) (Ha! Ba-dum-ching.0 It is now Sunday, four days after the last major battle. The Major has called a special meeting for you in an hour. It is 8:00am. The meeting is at 9:00. In the meanwhile, Kiku, you have spent the better part of a day debriefing for the Major and Kei. They now know a bit of what you found out from taking Tora's mind. But not as much as you do. (Clearly! Because I am a horribly secretive woman.) (hey! That's Nova's job ; ) ) (So do you have Nightmares, yet?) (I had Nightmares before I started. ^_~) (Has it level uped) (Lv1: Disturbing dreams, Lv2: "Every night can't sleep" Lv3 "I cannot sleep! Freddy will get me!!") (So, time to get to posing? ^^) What are you going to do before the meeting? (Eat!) (Or be mostly done eating.) (Probibly flying Karasu around trying to get used to his weighing more.) * Kiku has started breakfast this morning! No plush and a sleeveless blue dress, along with her hair tied back with a small blue ribbon make your Kiku for the indeterminite period of time much like a day. * Nova is...elsewhere. * Kiku doesn't seem particularly cheery about the eating. She's still been sorta chaotic, but nothing so bad as a few days ago. Right now she's chewing on her utensils in thought. * Hilde is having scrambled eggs and sausage with her two cans of soda * Keika is not there, but she's got a thing for fasionable lateness so she may arrive in a bit. * Nova hasn't been noticably around everyone much over the last few days. * Kiku puts down her utensils and licks her lips. "Do you know what the meeting's about?" "Nope, I'm new here, remember?" Not that new... "I still feel new" * Kiku smiles a little. "That's okay. We got attacked a lot in the first week we were here--well, what I remember... " she sighs slightly then continues, "Well, I still feel new too." * Kiku takes a few more bites of food. * Hilde eats a sausage * Kiku glances around. "I hope Nova and Keika eat before the meeting..." * Hilde nods * Keika takes the oppertunity to push open the door to the mess hall and walk in. She's wearing her uniform again. * Karasu is is still shiney from its upgrades, but anybody who takes a close look at it can see some dirt and a more than a few blades of grass wedged in between his metalic feathers. Oh! Good. * Hilde waves "Hi Keika, hi birdy!" * Karasu turns its head to look at Hilde. His name is Karasu. "Hi Karasu!" * Karasu chirps happily at Hilde. Katsu chooses that moment to walk up to Kiku's table with a traditional breakfast on his tray. * Kiku smiles a little at Karasu. "You look very nice, Karasu..." "I agree." says Katsu. "The mdofications seem to have taken nicely." * Karasu bobs it's head at Kiku and then starts to preen. Some grass falls out. Still getting used to him being heavier, but at least hitting the ground doesn't dent him anymore. * Kiku giggles a little and then whirls her head to look at Katsu with a soft smile. "Morning, Katsu. Do you know what the meeting's about?" 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kiku (2d6) and gets 6. (Yum! Empathy.) (On Katsu, semi-obviously.) Katsu seesm to be very pleased with himself. "Modifications?" * Keika walks to get in the breakfast line with Karasu along for the ride. Katsu smiles. "Say, Kiku, if you're not doing anything speical tonight I've just found out a whole bunch of new movies have been uploaded into our base entertainment network." "Movies?" * Kiku says a little enthusiastically, "Oh, what ones?" * Hilde finishes off her first can and starts on the second "That new CGI film from Kazuki -- what's it called? -- Ah yes! Spirits of Dawn. I hear it's really good." * Keika walks up to the table with a waffle and an orange on her tray. (and a plate too, but that's rather unimportant.) "Good morning to all of you." "Mornin!" * Karasu looks at everybody in turn and then at an empty chair. * Kiku chews her utensils again. "Mmm... well..." * Kiku glances over at Keika then back at Katsu and nods a little. "Nothing special, no." Slight smile. "So sure." * Keika sits in the chair and and starts carve up the waffle. No, she didn't put any butter or syrup on it. "thanks, Kiku-chan! I'm looking forward to it." Meanhilw the time ticks by at it gets closer to the meeting. * Kiku continues doing a very slow job of eating. "That's awfully dry, Keika..." * Hilde absentmindedly looking at the clock in the mess hall for lack of having much to say * Keika picks up the orange. "That is why I brought this, as I do not wish to spill anything on myself before going to visit my employer." * Keika starts to peal the orange with her fingernails. ... oh. * Kiku looks down at herself, then her plate, then stands slowly and says, "I'm gonna take a walk before the meeting." She smiles a little at everyone. * Keika tilts her head. "Before you go Karasu wishes to know if the movie you were discussing has Haguro in it." * Karasu hops slightly at that name and then croaks, "Haguro!" * Keika twitches ever so slightly. * Kiku jumps slightly and looks over at Karasu. "He... he talks!" "Eeeehhhhhhh!?!" You may thank your boy for that improvement. He is not very good at it yet. "No, it isn't a Haguro movie. It's about a mystic warrior in a fantasy Japan." My... my boy? * Karasu looks down and croaks much softer. "Haguro." I could say your man if you wished it. Katsu is Katsu no matter what else I may call him. Katsu beams. "You're welcome. Now if you'll excuse me there's an enemy mecha you guys captured that we're trying to reverse-engineer. Later, darling!" * Kiku blushes slightly. "I'm--um..." she looks oer at Katsu and waves. "Bye-bye, Katsu." He blows you a kiss as he leaves. * Hilde drinks her soda and watches him go * Kiku smiles a little and looks back to the girls. "Walk now. See you at the meeting." * Hilde waves "Later" Of course. * Keika continues to peal her orange. * Kiku pads off in her perpetually slippered feet. * Hilde pokes her scrambled eggs They don't move. (THEY'RE ALIIIIVE.) (They're going to EAT YOU!) (o.O) * Keika holds the orange away from her and carefully tears it in half, and after putting one of the halves down, peals out one wedge and eats it. * Hilde eats the eggs (and she's going to keep eating her orange untill it's time to go unless Hilde says something.) Unless you guys are doing anything special, we're going to fast-forward to the meeting. (Naw, lets spend a few minutes of uncomfortable silence :P) (Woo! I love silence. It means empathy checks. :9) (You left) (I know! ^__^) (So no nummy emotions for you from me) * Hilde finishes eating the eggs, then eyes the single sausage on the plate The clock on the wall says 8:55. * Hilde *CHOMP* stands up and chugs her soda * Keika is still calmly eating the last of her waffle. * Nova is all cleaned up and arrives at the office at the specified time. * Hilde heads to the office * Keika waits a few moments after Hilde leaves and then stands up and follows her. * Kiku is at the office early, because there's only so much walking you can do, after all.. The Major motions for you all to sit down and shows you an image on the office screen. It looks like a big ball, bristling with weaponry. * Hilde looks at it and scratches her head, trying to figure it out * Karasu looks at the ball of doom. * Nova stands at attention and pays careful attention to information discussed in the meeting. Well... where is it. "This image, " he says, 'was taken by one of our orbital cameras. Fortunately the camera was cloaked and this didn't spot it. anyway, this thing landed sixty kilomters southwest of Tokyo last night." (?) * Kiku chews her lip as she looks at it. And it isn't here yet? It's stayed put for now. Thar's what concerns us. There are any numbers of places it could launch a suicide strike into, and we can't figure out what the target is." "Does it have to be a suicide strike?" *disappointed a bit* "So the mayor has ordered us to take it out before it can do any damage. We've been ordered to be extremely careful, but to destroy this thing and, if possible, caputre the pilot or pilots alive." * Kiku says quietly, "It--it looks like a Valkyrie. Could be one..." * Karasu looks away from the ball and at Kiku. If it is, what do they remember about it? "That's what the Mayor thought. That's why he wants you to use extra cuation. No rash attacks, nothing foolhardy." "If the pilot is trying to go out in a blaze of glory, your job is to make sure they don't." ( What!?! Why are you all looking at me!?!) "I hate suicide attackers. It's so...so...pointless" * Nova says unemotionally, "Highly unlikely we can stop it from self-destructing, Sir. At best we could get it away from more valuable locations." * Kiku winces slightly at nothing, it seems. "It... it would be hard, yes, but we have to." So, you want us to bait it out to sea, and then fight it there. * Kiku shakes her head. "We can't bait it. It's... it's got to be another Valkyrie. If she wants to blow it up..." "I'm just the messenger. What you do is at your discretion. the Mayor has determined you know better than anyone else how to ifhgt this thing." "If she wants to blow it up, why hasn't she done it already? Or is the tactic to take us out with it?" * Keika shrugs. "She has been politly waiting for us this long, we should find out what she wants." * Nova comments, "Perhaps." "Rememebr, be careful None of you are expendable. And this whole setup screams out 'trap'." * Kiku exhales noisily and gets a determined look on her face. "We have to stop her." * Kiku looks around at everyone, "Is there anything else... can we go?" That is what we are paid to do Kiku. The question is how. "How indeed" * Kiku turns towards Keika and says a little hotly! "You stop her! You don't let her activate the Type 72's 5 minute countdown." The Major looks at Kiku oddly. "Type 72? Do you knwo something we don't?" "...I was about to say" * Keika grins. "I only have three shots with that. I will be relying on the rest of you to make sure she doesn't move out of the way." * Kiku looks around the room. "I... it's a Type 72, that's all. It'll blow up 2.5 square kilometers if the countdown is started..." "Just exactly where is it sitting at this moment?" * Keika nods. "Then we will not allow her to start it. It is as simple as that." The major frowns. "I see." "Well, there's no time like the present. Come up with a p;lan, and then move out." * Karasu looks at the major. * Nova saulutes and says, "Yes, Sir." It has not moved since it landed last night, correct? "Correct." 'believe me, we're keeping a very close eye on it." * Karasu looks at Kiku now. * Kiku goes back to chewing her lip and looking around a bit nervously. Her hands are gripping her legs tightly as she's seated. * Hilde fidgets in her seat Do they remember anything at all beyond what kind of self destruct it has? * Kiku sees Shiny!Karasu, then blinks. "Lasers and defenses. And explosives everywhere. It's not-- they don't--" she just stops and shakes her head. "What we need is a gun or something that can pinpoint and shoot out the detonator" "From a long distance away" * Kiku says quietly, "All I know. It's all I know. We have to stop her." * Nova comments, "Most likely, it's deep inside under several feet of armor." Unfortunatly, I doubt they would place such a thing where we could reach it easily. "Well then we need a really powerful gun" I have weapons specificly designed for taking out heavily armored ships. The problem is getting close enough. Since she is over water, I would suggest that I attack from below while thoes who can, engage her from a distance, or up close if you wish to challange her lasers. * Hilde scratches her chin "Hmmmmm" * Kiku nods a little and says after a bit of hesitance, "You really can't get rid of detonator. It's there's too much explosive." * Keika tilts her head back. "Do you know if the shock from my EMP will be enough to detonate her, as it was with the dish?" * Kiku brngs her hands up to her head, clutching it in a clearly stressful look. "No! No. Only the signal. Radio signal. Remote control from pilot." * Keika nods. "Then as soon as you are ready we can begin." * Hilde sighs "Just gimme some orders. I'm out of ideas" * Keika points at Hilde. "You keep her distracted while I sneak up behind her and shoot. Try not hit her too hard, and don't get yourself killed. That is all." "Oky Doky" * Karasu looks at the others. Any objections? * Nova comments, "It seems odd that the pilot can't simply press a button to detonate the ship, but must rely on a easily jammable radio signal." * Kiku shakes her head a little. "I... I don't know. If she wants to start it up--" * Kiku stands up slowly and slightly unsteadily. "Do we have jamming things?" It makes sense if she is outside of the vehicle, but given how often they have infiltrated our base I have little hope of finding where she is hiding before she presses the button. The Major starts to think. "jamming.... jamming.... You'll have to ask Katsu, but I think some of the ECM systems on your mecha can be used to jam radio signals." "But you'll have to find the right freuqency before the system is activated." * Nova says, "The Mirage is outfitted with a full ECM suite. It was designed for scouting missions." Then I leave jamming the signal to you and Katsu. * Kiku nods a little. "I--I can try to talk to her. Together, maybe, we can save her." She lets go of the chair and looks around. "Now can we go?" The Major's phone rigns, and he picks it up. "Yes? I see. I'll let them know. Thanks, Sergeant." As he puts away the phonem, he says "It just started moving, towards Tokyo. We'll feed you an intercept course. Move out!" We go. * Hilde leaps to her feet "Hey ho! For Justice...and stuff!" And Kiku, that is your task for this. Find the pilot and try to stop her. * Keika stands up and heads for the door. * Kiku nods a little and says quietly, "I don't think she'll be hard to find." "No need to worry! Baitgirl is on the case!" *runs off down the hall for her mech singing "nanananananana Baitgirl!"* * Kiku stares at Hilde and blinks a few times. "... she's weird." * Keika doesn't respond. * Kiku walks forward towards the door. * Keika catches the door and holds it open long enough to walk through and then lets go. * Nova walks towards the door also, presumably on her way out to go t the hanger. You all get to your mecha without incident and are soon underway. You follow the incercept course laid out, which changes a few times as the enemy changes its vector. (Can I intersperse a comment to Nova before we get sortied, real quick?) Yes. * Kiku looks over at Nova and says forcefully, but quietly, with a slight tremble in her voice, "Don't let her activate that. You have to jam her or she'll die. You have to, Nova..." * Nova sees and hears Kiku, then goes about getting to her ship and suited up. * Kiku gets a pained look in her eyes and goes to the ship too! (Okay. Sorry. ^_^;) You're enroute when the Type 72 appears in your rader. It's about ten kilomters away. (...I've got a range of 50, but whatever.) (Call it ECM luck. ^_~) The keika, you've been tracking it for a while, and leading the team towards it. Suddenly it stops and turns towards you. Then your radar picks up a flurry of missile luanches in your direction. * Keika dives for the water. * Kiku 's mech gets the hazy glow around it but she doesn't say anything, instead speeding as fast as she can. Sadly that's not that fast. * Hilde attempts to evade The missibles are one round from impact. 2d6-1 2d6-1 2d6-1 2d6-1 * Nova cloaks and takes evasive maneuvers * Keika spend the next round speeding twords the T-72 a few feet over the water then. The other two are missed. (Made by 4!) (same here) OK, the missiles pass you by, but are still airborne. They turn around for another try unless you act. * Nova continues on as before, closing to get into range of her jamming systems. (towards the big ship, not the missiles) (may I use my Plasma Lightning to attempt to shoot one down?) Yes, you may. * Keika continues in a straight line twords the source of the missiles. (attacking now) 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Hilde (2d6-3) and gets 7. * Kiku continues moving after having spun-dodged the missile, saying even though she's in no way audible, "Don't start it! Please don't start it!" (bingo!) The missle explodes with a staisfying "BOOM!" Too far away to do any damage. Kiku, you are detecting the pilot's mind. (Eh, I have to sacrifice defense to contact, don't I?) (You've still got your field up right?) Yes, you do. That's sort of why you were attacked. (Then I'll eat the hit!) 45 danage, minus whatever your force field absorbs. * Kiku 's glowing field seems to absorb the light from the lasers and Kiku just keeps flying on. If it hurt her, she didn't cry out. "You okay down there?" (Still need to make contact, or can I talk to her yet?) You need to break down her shield, then you'll be able to "talk". (Will try, then!) The field is down, and you will be in contact next round. Hilde? * Kiku doen't respond to Hilde, but she's still moving fine. (I go in as close as I can and try to get the enemy's attention) OK, you get pretty close to the enemy. She has used her attack for this turn and doesn't go after you. Nova? * Nova remains cloaked and activates her jamming systems while keeping on the move. The systems are active. The enemy mecha begins to fly in a sort of wobbly pattern. (just jamming enemy) No, your sensors are fine. Only the enemy seems to be affected. * Keika continues to move slowly closer while underwater. (Afterall the plan was for Kiku to try and talk to her and for Nova to jam the system first) The enemy tried to fire another laser array, but with her sensors jammed it's a wild shot at best. 2d6+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for DB-GM (2d6+2) and gets 9. Which misses everything. Hilde? (any weapon barrels or things I can try to break?) There are a lot of weapon barrels. You also see a window that appears to lead into the cockpit and what appear to be exhaust ports for the engines. (hmmm, what would be the best thing to do that wouldn't make the pilot wanna detonate...) Kiku had told you enough of what she knew about the Type 72 design that you know approximately where all the things you can reach are. (well I'm gonna get in front of the cockpit window and wave my hammer around threateningly) OK. The pilot seems to be too busy to react. Kiku? (Contact!) The pilot's surface thoughts are full of her orders to detonate in the city center of Tokyo, and the fact that right now she is utterly terrified because she thinks her mission has already failed. You can try to send next turn, but you are not in control of the enemy pilot's actions. That would require a Mind Control roll. Nova? (Yay! Capture the mech undamaged so we can trade it in for credits!) * Nova continues her actions as before. (Man, the mind shield going up REALLY slows down my telepathy.) (Last time it was instant, now it's taken 4 rounds. @_@) The enemy mech continues to fly unsteadily, as the pilot seems to be struggling to keep it aloft. (missed by two) OK. You'll have to wait. Kiku? * Kiku telepathically says, and in Slythe at this poinnt, * Kiku frowns and replies, Hilde, what are you doing while all this is going on? (Hovering in front of the cockpit preparing to perhaps frag the pilot before she can detonate if Kiku fails) (Woo! Held action.) (Though highly doubting herself cuz she doesn't like killing) The cockpit window pops open. You see the pilot sitting there, stunned. Hilde, you have a held action> What will you do now? (reach down and hope the pilot hops into my hand? ^^;) She does, in fact, climb into your hand. And the enemy mecha begins to plummet towards the coean with nobody to pilot it. * Hilde and by extension Mjolnir sweatdrops (...If combat is over I'd like to try again... before it crushes me) Go ahead. The Type 72 lands in the ocean and floats. * Kiku 's glowing force field falls away. You all hear a sob and her her say (as she telepathizes) "I'm so glad you didn't..." Any ideas on what to do with the abandoned Slythe mecha? (Trade it in for credits) (Keika's planning to drive it home) Katsu and company could probably learn something from it ifd you can get it to them intact. (Cannibalize the sucka and put all the nifty parts into our bots. I call dibs on the self-destruct! Heero Yuy eat your heart out!! Whoot!) (@_@) * Keika growls over the comlinks. "Come on you MOVE!" 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keika (2d6) and gets 6. * Kiku 's mecha's head looks over towards Hilde and she holds out her hand as she comms, slowly, "I--I think I should take Araki." (Guess they could tow it, if they're feeling stooopid enough to bring a giant bomb into the city - they should just sink it.) (Snicker.) "Sh...sure" *hands her over carefully* This bomb is not going to go off. Only Araki could have triggered it, and now not even she can do it. (Roll it down the street while humming a tune from the Katamari Damacy soundtrack) (Ha!) (*snickers madly) Araki looks very young. Her skin is an opal blue and her hair is snow white. She's slim and would probably be considered attractive. She looks very tense and frigtened. * Kiku takes Araki carefully and cradles her in her big mecha hands. keika, you have enough control over the Type 72 that you can make it move. Who's going to report this in to base? 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keika (2d6-3) and gets 6. [The type 72 slowly rises out of the water, and underneith it is Hirameku, not quite doing a convincing job of balancing it in her hands.] * Kiku says, with the tremble in her voice, "She's... she's not going to do anything bad now--wow.." * Hilde activates her comm if nobody else is gonna "Uh, base. Kohogan here. We recovered the pilot and the...ball...thingie and we're toting it back to base now. Over?" "Roger that. We'll be ready." Unless you're doing anything special you all get back to base without further incident. Military polcie are waiting to take custody of Araki. (Is Kiku in or out of her mech when they try to take her?) And technicians from katsu's team are waiting to secure the Type 72. Yes. (... So out, or in? ^_^;) * Keika sets the Type 72 down as gently as she can. Out. * Kiku walks unsteadily towards Araki (and the MPs, probably). She looks a bit tired. * Keika then lands Hirameku in the hanger and walks out twords the SeventyTwo. Araki says something in Slythe when she sees the MPs. * Hilde lands Mjolnir in the hangar and does the same as Keika * Kiku waves her hands at them and says, "Don't do anything to her!"
